The Mindy Nigilazzo family raises funds to send dresses to girls in Uganda.

Deacon Don Grossnickle, founder of MAAP Foundation, Joe, Mindy, and Dave Nigliazzo
Mindy Nigliazzo, husband Dave, and son Joe stood on Arlington Heights Road begging and collecting funds on Kiwanis Peanut Day to help women and babies needing healthcare in rural Uganda, East Africa.
Mindy was always saying yes as a volunteer for just about everything. A memorial to Mindy’s generosity keeps expanding as 100-plus handmade dresses and shorts are soon hand-carried to Budini Village, Uganda, as a thoughtful goodwill gift to girls and boys, introducing them to the idea of microfinancing. Microfinance throughout the world is an ambitious way to make money, become independent and take charge of one’s life. Mindy’s Spirit of generosity and kindness especially to strangers lives on.
Mindy’s family with help from friends from Our Lady of the Wayside Christian Family Movement raised $6000 joining with the Arlington Heights based MAAP Foundation to fund a women’s medical facility in Budini Uganda. This $6000 fund started a sustainable farming project that will bring in $300 per month on average that offers life giving urgent and emergency medical care to impoverished mothers and babies.
The dresses serve to raise awareness to the microfinance investing serving in the clinic community and will show everyone that individuals can prosper in learning dressmaking for profit. Mindy’s next project will gather used sewing machines to create the Mindy Sewing Academy.
Personal notes and bracelets are tucked in the pocket as a gift from Our Lady of the Wayside parish families.
To support the purchase of used, manually operated sewing machines or help with the $1500 transportation costs, please consider making a donation to the MAAP Foundation.
